Gas line hit by construction crews

LAFAYETTE (KRON)  –  A gas line hit by a construction crew at Golden Gate closed at Mt. Diablo Thursday morning.

UPDATE: August 13, 2015

A gas leak caused by a construction crew this morning has been sealed, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

The gas leak happened near Golden Gate Way and Mount Diablo Boulevard, police said in an alert issued shortly before 10:15 a.m.

Nearby buildings had been evacuated, however those evacuations have since been lifted, according to fire officials.

Mt. Diablo Boulevard is open, while Golden Gate Way remains closed, fire officials said shortly before 10:30 a.m.


There have been no reports of any injuries.

The road will remain closed until further notice.

At this time no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

PG&E is working to repair the issues.

Some buildings near the gas line were being evacuated, however as of 10:30 am the evacuation have been lifted.
