SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — On Tuesday night, there are questions about the San Francisco Police Department’s use of force.
The questions have come up after video emerged showing several officers pinning down a man with a prosthetic leg.
The home video shows a man with a prosthetic leg down on the ground being restrained by San Francisco police. What started as a handful of officers grew to more than a dozen.
The video was shot earlier in August by Chaedria Labouvier, who is heard calling out to police throughout the video.
But police see things differently. They said before what you see in this video, the man was waving wooden sticks at people near U.N. Plaza, then stepped into oncoming traffic on Market Street. And at first, police said he refused to put the sticks down.
At this point, police decided this is a mental health detention.
