TAIWAN (KRON) — A 12-year-old boy was caught on video accidentally tripping and falling into a 17th century Paolo Porpora oil painting called Flowers, according to Slate.
It happened on Sunday while the boy was with his mother on a guided tour at a Taiwan art exhibition. As he fell, he tried to stick his hand out to stop the fall, but instead, he poked a fist-sized hole into the piece of art valued at $1.5 million.
According to Focus Taiwan News Channel, Andrea Rossi, the curator of the exhibition, said the boy should not be blamed and the family should not have to pay for the damages.
Sun Chi-hsuan, the head of exhibition co-organizer TST Art of Discovery Co., said organizers will ask the insurance company to cover the cost of the damages, according to Focus Taiwan.
