Los Angeles (AP) — Los Angeles has agreed to a deal with the U.S. Olympic Committee that will make it America’s bid city for the 2024 Olympics if the city council signs off on it next week.
If the council approves the deal at a meeting Tuesday, the USOC will announce Los Angeles as its candidate, a person familiar with the process told The Associated Press.
The person did not want to be identified because the negotiations have not been publicly announced.
Last month, the USOC scrapped plans to make Boston the bid city and entered talks with Los Angeles. On Friday, a city council subcommittee unanimously approved the pact and sent it to the full council for a vote.
The International Olympic Committee will pick the host city in 2017.
