SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Monday marks the launch of the first-ever Lombard Street Ambassador Program for San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood.
In light of the pedestrian safety and extreme traffic congestion in the popular area of the crooked Lombard Street, the program seeks to provide guidance and oversight for sight-seers.
Police and other agencies have been working to find solutions to the rise in crime and criminal activity in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Residents close by said they are thankful and anxious to see what the program will accomplish. This follows on the heels of a tourist being robbed of his cell phone and shot recently in that area.
