Sexual assault at U.C. Berkeley campus

BERKELEY (KRON) —  On Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 12:37 a.m. a U.C. Berkeley officer was dispatched to the 2100 block of Shattuck near the Aurora Theatre Company for a possible sexual assault.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, reported that she was the victim of a sexual battery which had occurred in a university library approximately 10 minutes earlier.

At this time the description of the suspect is unknown.

The U.C. Berkeley police and Berkeley police is investigating this crime.

KRON4 did get a letter from the chancellor Tuesday, stating that all new students are now required to attend presentations aiming to stop sexual violence on campus. If they do not attend, their registration will be blocked.
