RICHMOND (KRON) — A violent shooting took place during a high school football game in Richmond, and a number of people were injured.
Multiple shots were fired right across the street from Kennedy High School in Richmond, creating a chaotic situation in the stands and on the field
“A school resource officer managed to close down the football game for precautionary measures,” Richmond police Lt. Felix Tan said.
None of the spectators or players were injured, however, Richmond police investigators found multiple shooting victims on 41st Street near the Monterey Pines apartment complex
“The gist of it is we had a car that drove by and shot at a student who was walking home, and also, the same car shot into a different car with two victims that were struck inside the vehicle, so we have a total of three victims all of them are juveniles,” Tan said.
He said the shooting outside Kennedy High School is the latest in a wave of violent crime in Richmond
“In that area, there has been an uptick in criminal activity, so we have a lot of officers patrolling that area,” Tan said.
Richmond police said they have limited suspect information. Their investigators are following up on what leads they do have in the case.
