SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) —
UPDATE: — At approximately 3:12 PM Officers responded to the area of Sloat and Great Highway regarding a collision between a pedestrian and vehicle.
Preliminary information at this time is the pedestrian, a para-sail surfer, was setting up his board when a gust of wind carried him into the southbound lane of traffic where he was ultimately struck by a vehicle.
The pedestrian was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Southbound traffic at Great Highway/Lincoln will be shut down until the Traffic Collision Investigation Unit completes their investigation.
Around 3:15 p.m. San Francisco fire department responded to reports of a kite surfer that was picked up out of the ocean by the wind, and then brought down on to the Great Highway near Sloat where the kite surfer was struck by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was cooperative and stayed at the scene, according to police.
Medics transported the kite surfer to a general hospital.
At this time it’s unknown what the kite surfer’s condition is.
