ALAMEDA (KRON) — Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in Alameda early Saturday, according to fire officials.
At 5:55 a.m., the Alameda Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire on the 1000 block of Via Bahia (Bay Farm Island). Upon arrival, fire crews found a detached garage on fire.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, confining the fire to the garage, said fire officials. The garage sustained severe damage, resulting in a roof and wall collapse, they said, and there was moderate damage to an adjoining garage. As well, there was no damage to the nearby residential unit.
All residents were accounted for and were outside, said fire officials. There were no reports of injuries.
An Alameda Fire Investigator is working to determine the cause and origin, officials said.
Other agencies that responded to the fire were Alameda Police, Alameda Municipal Power and PG&E.
