SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Over Labor Day Weekend, the California Highway Patrol’s Golden Gate Division said it saw more drunk driving arrests.
Three accidents killed people in the San Francisco area, according to the CHP. That is the same number as last year.
But In those three accidents, five people died. And 224 people were arrested for driving under the influence.
A big increase from 166 people last year.
The California Highway Patrol in Marin County said the roads are more deadly than in recent years. Fatal collisions have increased 20 percent over last year, they said.
“It’s someone making the choice to drink so much that they’re impaired…putting everyone’s lives in danger,” one officer said.
