SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — At a press event Wednesday, Apple unveiled a new iPad, a new Apple TV, and new iPhones.
The new iPhones will hit the market in a couple weeks. They include a new pink-colored iPhone 6S and 6S plus.
Its official name by Apple is rose gold. It’s similar to the champagne gold-colored iPhone. You have to catch them in the right light to really see its true color.
The new 6S and 6S plus keep the same shape and size as the prior models. The new iPhones will have 3D touch, which lets users press and hold on the screen with different levels of firmness for different actions.
If you’re in your email, you can press and hold on an exact email to get a peak at what’s in that email. If you press on the message icon, it will bring up people you have recently messaged and you can text them right from there.
Same for the phone call icon. This Force Touch feature is a way for quick actions to be performed on the new iPhones.
And these new iPhones come with live photos, which use 3D touch to activate still photos into moving pictures. When you take a still picture, it will record a second or two before and after. And then if you want, you can later bring it to life by pressing and holding on the photo.
Speaking of pics, the new iPhones have a much beefed-up camera — 12 megapixels in the rear camera, and it shoots 4K video with 8 million pixels of quality. That is a first for an iPhone.
The iPhone 6S will cost $199 with a contract. The 6S plus will cost $399 with a contract. These new phones go on pre-order this Saturday and hit the market Sept. 25.
