SUNNYVALE (KRON) — Sunnyvale officials announced the arrest of an 18-year-old school employee for allegedly assaulting an 8-year-old student.
Jonathan Chow, of Cupertino was arrested at around 5 p.m. Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting the child earlier in the day, according to the city’s Department of Public Safety.
Chow worked as a part-time lunchtime monitor and extended care teacher’s assistant at the Spark Charter School at 739 Morse Avenue, according to public safety officials. Chow has been employee at the school for one month.
The young female victim was identified as a student at the charter school but it’s not clear if the incident happened on campus.
Investigators have not identified any other alleged incidents or victims, according to public safety officials.
The school is an independent nonprofit that operates under an agreement with the Santa Clara County Office of Education, according to its website. The campus opened on Aug. 18 and serves students in kindergarten through sixth grade, the website says.
Chow was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on felony charges
