PETALUMA (KRON) — California Highway Patrol is investigating a Friday crash on Lakeville Highway near Petaluma that left an Oregon woman with serious injuries.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Lakeville Highway at State Gulch Road.
Officers said Matthew Thorson, 48, of Santa Rosa, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet 4500 pickup and flatbed trailer west of Lakeville Highway and approaching Stage Gulch Road when a 47-year-old woman in a 2008 Ford Edge stopped at a stop sign pulled into the intersection directly in front of the Chevrolet.
The front of the Chevrolet crashed with the left side of the Ford, and the Chevrolet’s trailer spun around and ended up blocking Lakeville Highway just west of the intersection, according to the CHP.
The driver of the Ford, identified as a 47-year-old Medford, Oregon woman, was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
Thorson and two passengers in his vehicle were not injured in the crash.
The crash forced one-way traffic control on the roadway until about 8:40 p.m., according to the CHP.
