SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The owner of two popular San Francisco restaurants is accused of underpaying employees thousands of dollars.
In 2012, the Department of Labor determined that the owner of Hong Kong Lounge I and II, Ming Lian Zhou, had underpaid 48 employees by more than $90,000.
The 57-year-old paid the feds, who in turn paid the employees. But now, employees say Zhou is making them give back the money or find a new job.
Zhou has been charged with lying to a government agency and making threats.
If guilty, Zhou faces a maximum 25-year prison sentence.
