REDWOOD CITY (KRON) — A frightening moment for a woman when a man tried to grab her and force her into his van, according to police.
The attempted kidnapping took place in broad daylight near Redwood City on the 600 block of Second Avenue.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department said a woman was walking alone on Tuesday morning around 8:30 along Second Avenue in unincorporated Redwood City. According to the sheriff’s office, the man attempted to lure the woman into his van.
She said no, but the suspect kept trying to get her to join him in his vehicle. Eventually, officers said the man drove his van onto the sidewalk and grabbed the woman by her arm and tried to force her.
But, police said she fought back and was able to get away. She said she was going to call the cops, and the suspect got scared and drove off to the east. Fortunately, the woman was not injured, but, as you can imagine, she was pretty upset.
Police said this sketch is very detailed, and they said the suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, with brown hair and a big nose, with a mole or scar on his left cheek.
The van is described as a 90s GMC with a roof rack on it.
Residents in the area said they are worried he may come back.
“That’s actually very scary,” resident Daisy Morales said. “I will actually be scared going to the street now because a guy tried to grab a girl…that’s really scary.”
