Weather officials issue fire weather warning for Bay Area

(KRON/BCN) — Weather officials Saturday afternoon issued a warning that conditions are developing in the North and East Bay hills that could cause rapid wildfire growth should a fire start.

The red flag warning goes into affect at 6 p.m. this evening and last until 10 a.m. Sunday, National Weather Service officials said.

Strong northeast winds in the North and East Bay hills will start this evening and last through Sunday morning with gusts of 50 mph possible, NWS officials said.

The area will also see low humidity and the strong winds combined with dry fuels may cause extreme fire behavior, according to NWS officials.
