Mother holds “Maddy’s Day” in honor of 8-year-old Madyson Middleton

SANTA CRUZ (KRON) — The mother of a Santa Cruz girl, who was murdered in July, is hoping to start a new tradition to honor her daughter.

Maddy Middleton would have turned 9 years old Monday, and her mom, Laura Jordan, is hosting a huge celebration in Maddy’s honor .

“It’s going to be a huge celebration,” Jordan told the Santa Cruz Sentinel. “We’re going to be focusing on the positives of Maddy’s life.”

The celebration lasted until 7 p.m. Monday at Harvey West Park. It started at 4 p.m.

Included in the celebration, there were a jump house, a petting zoo, food trucks, desserts, and face painting.
