SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – A woman was found dead in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park on Saturday morning.
The victim suffered blunt force trauma to the head, according to police.
San Francisco police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said Monday that a passerby reported the woman’s death around 9:15 a.m. Saturday.
A passerby found Audrey Carey, a resident of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, a city in the province of Quebec, dead near the bison paddock in Golden Gate Park around 9:15 a.m. Saturday.
The death is now being investigated as a homicide, according to police.
The woman was pronounced dead by officers in Golden Gate Park.
Esparza said the victim was in her mid 20s to mid 30s and does not appear to have been a transient.
The homicide remains under investigation and no suspects have been arrested, according to police.
Golden Gate Park attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the city’s 15th annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival.
Police have not said whether the woman attended the festival on Friday nor released any information on how she came to be in the park.
