STANFORD (BCN) — Firefighters quickly put out a small fire in Stanford University’s basketball arena Monday afternoon, a university spokesman said.
The fire burned a small section of the roof at Maples Pavilion. Emergency lights on the roof ignited roofing material, firefighters said.
It started at about 2 p.m. and was extinguished quickly by Palo Alto and Mountain View firefighters, university spokesman Brad Hayward said.
Firefighters said there was a power outage in the area.
No one was injured and damage was minimal. Hayward said the pavilion remained closed this afternoon but he wasn’t anticipating any long-term disruptions.
