VALLEJO (KRON) — A big-rig has caught on fire on westbound Highway 37 in Vallejo Friday morning causing lanes in both directions to shut down.
The closure on Hwy 37 at Wilson Avenue and Mare Island Bridge is due to a multiple vehicle crash involving a big rig hauling hay, according to California Highway Patrol.
The big rig caught fire at 6:47 a.m. and is now fully engulfed in flames, said CHP.
CHP does not have an estimate of when all lanes will reopen.
Hwy 37 is a major corridor through the north bay that carries all the traffic to the Sears Point and continues onto Novato. It connects Interstate 80 with US Hwy 101 at the north bay.
It is unclear if any injuries have been reported.
This is the second accident involving a big-rig fire within the hour Friday morning. A big-rig crashed and caught fire shutting down northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek.
