Officer involved shooting ends deadly in Modesto

MODESTO (KRON) —  Officers are investigating the events that led to an officer involved shooting Saturday morning in the 4000 block of East Briggsmore Avenue near the Cruisers Gas Station.

At about 5:40 AM, an officer in full uniform was pumping gas into his marked police car at the end of his shift when he witnessed a robbery at the adjacent store. The officer engaged the masked suspect who was armed. Several shots were fired and the suspect was fatally wounded.

The officer involved was uninjured and has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is a standard procedure with all officer involved shootings.

Modesto Police detectives, along with personnel from the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, are in the early stages of the investigation and no further details are available for release at this time.
