SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A former undercover federal agent has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison for extortion and other charges after pleaded guilty to using his position to steal more than $700,000 in digital currency from an online drug bazaar known as Silk Road.

Federal prosecutors announced the sentence against former Drug Enforcement Administration agent Carl M. Force on Monday

The 46-year-old Force was tasked with masquerading as a drug dealer who had connections to hit men and establishing communications with Silk Road operator Ross Ulbricht.
