Police investigating armed robbery at Petaluma grocery store

PETALUMA (KRON) —  Police are investigating an armed robbery at a grocery store in Petaluma Monday night.

It happened at the Grocery Outlet store at around 7:10 p.m.. Police said two men entered the store and stole a bottle of tequila worth about $22.

The men put the bottle of liquor in a towable suitcase that Daniel McEvoy, 52, was pulling through the store around 7:10 p.m., Sgt. Ed Crosby said.

When the clerk confronted them about it and said he would call police if they didn’t return the tequila, one of the men pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the clerk. McEvoy was arrested for public intoxication and shoplifting.

However, police are still searching for the man with the knife. Police said he was wearing green clothing and a beanie.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Petaluma Police Department.
