Police respond to fatal car accident in Milpitas

MILPITAS (KRON) —

UPDATE — All lanes of southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Milpitas have reopened this evening following a traffic fatality, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP has canceled a Sig-alert issued due to the incident. All lanes reopened at 10:44 p.m.

The fatality occurred near the state Highway 237 connector, according to the CHP.

The incident was first reported at 6:05 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a man in the roadway.

There has been one person deceased, and no other reports of other injuries at this time.

They are not sure as to how many vehicles were involved.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident.

CHP has advised taking alternative routes until the scene is cleared.
