Teen prodigy from California works on third college degree

BOSTON (AP) – A 17-year-old from California just published his second book while working on his third college degree and his pilot’s license, but he insists he isn’t’ that special.

Moshe Kai Cavalin, of San Gabriel, earned a bachelor’s from UCLA in math at age 15 and is taking online classes to get a master’s in cybersecurity through Brandeis University, near Boston. He’s also working for NASA, where he is developing aircraft surveillance technology.

He says his success is the result of good parenting, motivation and inspiration. His parents home-schooled him until age 7, when he finished trigonometry and headed to community college. Next, he hopes to get a master’s in business from MIT.

But there’s another milestone Cavalin hopes to reach next year: At 18, he’ll legally be able to drive alone.
