SAN JOSE (KRON) — Parents said they are upset because there are not enough tables and benches at a San Jose magnet school, leaving some schoolchildren to eat their lunch on the ground.
One frustrated parent said she has now started a petition drive for support.
Felicia Andrade is the mother of a kindergartner at Hacienda Environmental Science Magnet School. While she has nothing but praise for the academics there, Andrade said lunchtime staffing and protocol is sadly lacking.
A school spokesman insisted staffing was adequate, and that eating on the ground is a tradition at the school.
