SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — As the holiday season approaches, shoppers are packing the streets of San Francisco, especially in Union Square.
And while you are shopping, the eye in the sky might be helping to keep you safe. These cameras are recording video 24/7, so if something bad happens, police will get a crystal-clear view of the crime.
Karen Flood is executive director of the Union Square Business Improvement District. She said the 4k cameras are not only much clearer than older surveillance cameras, but they can also follow anything happening on the street.
In an effort to keep shoppers safe, the district has set up over 150 of the security cameras around store fronts.
The district said it plans on adding at least 50 more cameras in the Union Square area. Watch the above video to see Scott’s full report.
