FREMONT (BCN) — A woman struck by a vehicle on Wednesday morning near a Fremont high school died as a result of her injuries, according to police.
Fremont police responded at 10:47 a.m. that day to reports of a pedestrian being struck in the northbound lanes of Mission Boulevard at Mission Cielo Avenue near Mission San Jose High School, police said.
Police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said the female driver, a school resource officer, rendered aid to the victim and continued to provide care until paramedics arrived.
Bosques said the pedestrian was not a student or a staff member of the school. She was taken to a trauma center in critical condition and later died.
The woman, who died in a Santa Clara County medical facility, has not yet been identified by the county’s medical examiner’s office.
Drugs and alcohol are not being considered factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to Fremont police.
