SF police search for 200-year-old stolen violin worth $15k

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco police searching for a violin worth thousands of dollars that was stolen last week from a car in the city’s Fillmore district.

The 1795 “George Craske” full-size violin – valued at $10,000 to $15,000 – was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Webster Street on Nov. 20, between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9:20 p.m., according to police.

A Fredriksson bow valued at $4,000 and a BAM Hightech Slimline violin case valued at $3,500 were also stolen, police said.

Police said that the instrument has great sentimental value to the family it was stolen from.

Police are asking for the public help to find it. anyone with information about the violin’s current whereabouts to call the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
