Two suspects arrested for kidnapping and attempted murder in Napa County

NAPA COUNTY (BCN) — Napa police and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office teamed up Thursday to arrest two suspects in a kidnapping and an attempted murder that subsequently forced a lockdown of a Napa elementary school.

The incident began at 5 p.m. Wednesday when Napa police were called to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa after a gunshot victim arrived for treatment, Napa police Lt. Debbie Peecook said.

The wounded man, Miguel Morales, 27, of Contra Costa County, was uncooperative and would not tell police the location where he was shot, Peecook said. He was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder and released.

Shortly after midnight Thursday, Napa police were notified by San Francisco police that they had a man who claimed he had been kidnapped in Napa, Peecook said.

The man said he was pistol-whipped and left tied up for more than a day, but was able to escape, Peecook said.

The victim said Morales tried to shoot him, but during a struggle the victim shot Morales with the same gun, Peecook said. The alleged kidnap victim then fled the Napa house and had a friend pick him up and drive him to San Francisco to call the police, Peecook said.

The Napa Police Special Enforcement Unit went to San Francisco and determined the alleged kidnapping and shooting occurred in the 1600 block of Mary C Drive in unincorporated Napa County located within Napa City limits, Peecook said.

Authorities put the Mary C Drive Residence and a residence in the 1100 block of Shetler Avenue under surveillance, Peecook said. Gabriela Marron, 21, of Napa, Morales’ alleged accomplice, lived in the Shetler Avenue house, and she was taken into custody when she left in a vehicle, Peecook said.

During the surveillance of the house on Marcy C Drive, officers heard a loud gunshot sound and advised Pueblo Vista Elementary School on Barbara Road to lockdown as a precaution, Peecook said. Residents of the area were told to stay inside their homes between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

SWAT teams from the sheriff’s office and Napa Police Department entered and cleared the residence but did not find any victims or suspects with a gunshot wound. Police are still investigating where the gunshot sound came from, Peecook said.

Morales and Marron were arrested for kidnapping and attempted murder.

The Major Crimes Task Force that includes the sheriff’s office, Napa police and the Napa County District Attorney’s Office conducted the investigation, Peecook said.
