Newark police investigating suspicious death after welfare check


NEWARK (KRON) — Newark police are investigating a suspicious death after a welfare check Monday evening, police said.

Police said they were called to a home on the 5600 block of McLaughlin Avenue at around 8:21 p.m. to check on residents there. When police arrived, they found an unresponsive woman inside the home.

Alameda County paramedics were not able to revive her, police said.

The death is under investigation and has been deemed suspicious, according to police.

A neighbor told KRON4 that a couple in their 30’s with two children moved into the house about a year and a half ago.

No other information has been made available by police.
