Bay Area Storm: Tree crashes down on Oakland apartment housing 2-week-old girl

OAKLAND (KRON) — The Bay Area storm caused a tree to crash down onto an Oakland apartment early Friday morning where a family of three, including a two-week-old baby girl, lives.

The tree fell around 2:30 a.m. in the 260 block of Fairmount Avenue at the Fairmont Terrace Apartments.

The parents were starteled when they heard a loud noise in the middle of the night and went outside to find the fallen tree.

The tree fell right outside their bedroom window where the entire family was sleeping, but no one was harmed or injured. Photo 1ge-285054″ />

The father told KRON4’s Averi Harper that he immediately jumped to cover his daughter and is thankful the tree did not crash through the window.

The awning around the building broke the trees fall and stopped it from causing any further damage.

The father also said he did not feel comfortable sleeping in his bedroom after the tree fell so he and his family slept in the living room instead.

Crews are still working to remove the fallen tree.
