SAN JOSE (KRON) — It was a close call for one driver, as a metal tray loader or ramp reportedly crashed through the driver’s side of an SUV’s windshield Friday afternoon in San Jose, according to firefighters.
Fire crews said it happened at around 2 p.m. on southbound 280 just north of Saratoga Avenue. The large piece of metal apparently fell off a truck, hit the road, and bounced back into the air before careening into the windshield of the BMW X5 SUV, according to firefighters.
The male driver was able to drive his SUV to the shoulder, and no other vehicles were involved, fire crews said. The driver had a minor scratch to his right arm, firefighters said.
The San Jose Fire Department is urging drivers to keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
