Pedestrian struck, killed by two cars in Sunnyvale

SUNNYVALE (KRON) — Two cars struck and killed a man in Sunnyvale early this morning, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officials.

Authorities responded to a report of a collision between a car and a pedestrian in the area of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road and La Connor Drive around 5 a.m., public safety officials said.

A preliminary investigation showed two cars struck the pedestrian in an area with no crosswalks and both drivers stayed at the scene where they cooperated with officers, according to public safety officials.

It does not appear drugs or alcohol was a factor in the collision, public safety officials said. No arrests have been made.

Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road is closed between Cheyenne Drive and East Homestead Road is closed and is expected to reopen around 10 a.m.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area by using Fremont Avenue as a detour to southbound Fremont.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call investigator Steve Cronin of the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (408) 730-7109.
