Police investigating armed robbery in Monterey

MONTEREY (KRON/BCN) — Police in Monterey are investigating a Thursday armed robbery that occurred in the parking of the Del Monte Shopping Center.

The victim used the outdoor ATM at the shopping center and had walked back to his vehicle when two women, one armed with a handgun, approached him and demanded his wallet, police said.

The victim handed over his wallet, and the suspects then demanded his ATM PIN.

Police said the victim refused to give the suspects the number, so the armed suspect began hitting him in the head several times with the handgun.

After the robbery, the victim drove home to Prunedale, where he reported the incident.

The suspects are described as a white woman, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium build and blonde hair. She was wearing a white short-sleeve shirt, pants, and she was armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is described as an African American woman, 20 to 25 years old and 5 feet 6 inches tall.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Monterey Police Department’s Investigations Division at (831) 646-3814.
