Spencer Blake joined KRON 4 News in June 2016 after working as a morning anchor at KIVI-TV in Boise, Idaho for 5 years. During his time there, he was nominated for a regional Emmy as producer of Good Morning Idaho.
Prior to that, he worked as a morning anchor/reporter for KAUZ-TV, the CBS affiliate in Wichita Falls, Texas. Spencer graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brigham Young University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a broadcast journalism emphasis and minored in music.
It was Spencer’s love of people (and talking) that got him interested in journalism. He’s fluent in Spanish — he served a 2-year mission in Argentina for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Spencer was born and raised in Midland, Texas. He and his wife Whitney adopted their two little boys, and are huge advocates for adoption whenever they can be. The Blakes are pretty easily entertained and look for cheap/free activities to have a good time. Hiking, people-watching, and photography are some of their favorites.
Throughout his career, Spencer has been involved in community events and fundraisers centered around adoption, the Autism Society, Boy Scouts of America, local arts, and other nonprofits.
Though he’s living in PAC-12 country now, Spencer will always be a die-hard BYU football fan.
