Oakland police conduct Motor Santa Operation

OAKLAND (KRON) — The Oakland Police Department conducted its annual Motor Santa Operation Tuesday morning.

This is the ninth-annual traffic section tradition. It works like this–a traffic officer dresses up as Santa Claus and rides his motorcycle throughout the city, passing out toys to children he encounters along the way.

It began at 6:45 a.m., starting at 73rd Avenue and ending in West Oakland. More than 200 toys were purchased with money donated from charitable contributors.

The Oakland Police Chf. Sean Whent said this event is something his officers look forward to each year.
