Tidal Flooding in Tiburon

(AP) – Steady rain brought in by a cold front is dampening the San Francisco Bay Area, where cold temperatures and on-and-off showers are expected through at least Christmas day.

The National Weather Service said Sunday the cold front will continue to move southward through Sunday, when about a quarter inch of rainfall is forecast.

Scattered showers are also forecast for Monday morning, when a winter storm warning will be in effect in the Sierra Nevada from Yosemite to Kings Canyon.

The service says the Sierra Nevada will get more snow as a new wave of winter-like storms push through California.

It issued a the warning for heavy snow above 7,000 feet, saying most of the snow in Yosemite will fall Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.
