Residential Fire almost gone wrong in Fairfield

(BCN) – Firefighters extinguished a residential structure fire in Fairfield Saturday night.

Firefighters were dispatched to an address in the 400 block of El Camino Drive at 11:47 p.m. Saturday on report of a fire on the exterior of the home.

It was initially reported that the fire had been extinguished, but personnel on scene discovered that it had traveled into the wall, and the attic above the garage.

The incident was upgraded a full one-alarm response and firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.

Investigators determined that the fire had been caused by smoking materials that had been improperly discarded. The damage to the property was estimated at $10,000 but the residents were not displaced.

No injuries were reported.
