SAN JOSE (KRON) — A 90-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in San Jose on Tuesday, according to police.
At 5:43 p.m., officers responded to the area of South Bascom Avenue and Pamlar Avenue on a report of a vehicle that collided with a pedestrian.
The 90-year-old man was crossing the street when he was hit by a utility truck traveling south on South Bascom Avenue, according to police. He has been identified as Ernest Glave, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
The man was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the truck stopped and cooperated with investigators. The San Jose Police Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the incident.
Police said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the incident.
The case is the city’s 54th fatal traffic collision this year and the fifth since Dec. 15, police said.
