Bay Area rain and Sierra snow leading up to Christmas

In this photo provided by the Northstar California Resort, skiers make their way down a run at the Northstar California Resort Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, in Truckee, Calif. It's shaping up as the biggest snowstorm to hit the central Sierra in two years. The National Weather Service expects 2 to 3 feet of snow will fall on the highest peaks overlooking Lake Tahoe. At lake level, near Tahoe City, forecasters predict 8 to 16 inches of snow. California still needs a lot of snow and rain. After four years of drought, its reservoirs are dry: Folsom Lake last week hit its lowest point since record-keeping began 40 years ago. (Northstar California Resort via AP)

(KRON) Rain is back Thursday morning and lasting most of the day. There will also be more snow in the Sierra.

Friday, Christmas Day, looks clear and cool all day. The next chance of rain is Sunday.
