SFPD officer on motorcycle injured after being hit by minivan

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A San Francisco police officer on a motorcycle was injured after being hit by a minivan Wednesday in the city’s South of Market neighborhood, police said.

The collision happened near the Hall of Justice on Seventh Street around 10:03 a.m., according to police.

The male officer was riding in a group as part of a training ride north down Seventh Street.

The group was crossing Harrison Street when a Chrysler Town & Country minivan ran a red light and struck the officer, police said.

The victim, who is a veteran officer, was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the minivan stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. Police believe he may be from out of town.

Harrison Street was closed between Sixth and Seventh streets but have been reopened, according to SFPD’s twitter.
