Video: Inflatable Santa Claus stolen from Concord home

CONCORD (KRON) — Who stole Santa Claus?

A family Christmas tradition has been tarnished by thieves. Someone stole a holiday decoration from the front yard of an East Bay home.

Christmas decorations were perched in the front yard of one home on Oakridge Court in Concord. Somebody stole the family’s 16-foot tall inflatable Santa.

Adam Gorzak said although he recently moved to the Bay Area, the holiday decorations have been a family tradition for him, his wife, and their two small children.

“Every year, we would pull out our Christmas decorations, and we had a much smaller yard before…so we came here and it was, ‘We have all this room. We can do all sorts of things,'” Gorzak said. “Each kid decided…where they wanted to place things. It’s just a whole family thing that kicks off our holiday.”

His wife said their neighbors told them that they heard some noise around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, but they did not see the enormous inflatable Santa being taken. She said the thief left their yard in disarray.

“It was really our primary indication that he was for sure stolen and dragged through the yard,” Carin Muzak said.

The theft is something that has hit their children kind of hard.

“When…I let my kids know,” Muzak said. “I let my daughter know. She instantly started crying and that made me started crying…”

The family said they will not let this incident ruin their holiday, but if they were to wake up Christmas morning and somehow find that the giant Santa decoration was returned, that would the best gift of them all.
