FELTON (KRON) — Eight people were injured, including a child, in a holiday train accident along the Roaring Camp Railroad in the Santa Cruz Mountains on Monday.
The incident happened at around noon.
According to staff at Roaring Camp Railroads, the train was supposed to stop near Bear Mountain and reverse to head back in reverse, but the train’s throttle was stuck and hit a hillside.
Officials said that four passengers were transported to a nearby hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Four others were treated and released.
The operator was not injured in the crash and none of the 50 people onboard fell out of the train, the chief said.
The train travels from Felton, through Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, and stops in Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, according to the Roaring Camp Railroad website.
