LIVERMORE (KRON) — Police and fire officials in Livermore helped spread holiday cheer to a 6-year-old girl after the girl’s mother died from an illness on Christmas Day.
On Christmas afternoon, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to a local hotel to a non-responsive 39-year-old woman. She was suffering from a medical emergency related to a pre-exiting condition.
She was transported to a hospital for treatment and succumbed to her medical condition in the end. She relocated to California from Florida with her 6-year-old daughter, Karma, recently.
Karma was placed with a foster family when her mother was in the hospital until her grandmother could respond from Florida.
LPD Officers and LPDF Firefighters noticed that Karma wasn’t able to celebrate Christmas because of her mother being in the hospital.
LPD and LPDF personnel bought gifts for Karma so she could still have the joy of Christmas as they gave her gifts on December 26.
Officials in Livermore are now asking for the public’s help to raise money for for the family’s funeral expenses.
