Passengers delayed after southbound Caltrain engine failure

MOUNTAIN VIEW (KRON/BCN) — A southbound Caltrain died on the tracks in Mountain View Monday evening, according to Caltrain officials.

Around 5:55 p.m., Caltrain officials announced via Twitter that southbound train No. 264 had been delayed due to mechanical issues between the San Antonio and Mountain View stations. A rescue train was dispatched to move No. 264, and several trains experienced delays of up to 16 minutes, according to Caltrain officials.

Trains were temporarily single-tracking through the area, but No. 264 had been rescued and moved by 7:09 p.m., according to Caltrain officials.
