CONCORD (KRON) — A fire destroyed a home in Concord early Wednesday morning where squatters were believed to be living, according to fire officials.
Fire crews responded to a report of a fire around 2:36 a.m. to the 1900 block of North Third Street.
Responding firefighters arrived at the home to find it engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze, but the structure sustained severe damage in the fire.
No injuries have been reported following the fire.
Power lines were down in the area. The gas meter at the home had also caught fire, further complicating firefighting efforts. PG&E crews have secured the lines.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. An eviction had recently taken place at the home so no one was supposed to be living there, but fire officials learned a number of squatters had apparently been living there, fire officials said.
