Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck by VTA light rail in San Jose

SAN JOSE (KRON) – A pedestrian was hit and injured by a VTA light rail in San Jose Wednesday morning.

The victim was struck at 10:07 a.m. by the Alum Rock–Santa Teresa line at McKee Road and North Capitol Avenue, according to officials.

The light rail was traveling north on Capitol Expressway on a green light when the driver noticed a pedestrian in the intersection.

The driver sounded the horn multiple times to try to warn and pedestrian and attempted to slow down, but the light rail still hit the pedestrian.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital.

It is unclear how severe the injuries are at this time.
