BERKELEY (KRON) — A Berkeley BART station has reopened Monday morning after a brief closure due to the discovery of a human body part, according to BART officials.
A foot was found around 3 a.m. at the Downtown Berkeley BART station and BART officials announced the closure of the station around 4 a.m.
By 4:20 a.m., the station was reopened with trains scheduled to continue to make stops at the Berkeley station, BART officials said.
Officials said the body part may be tied to an incident on Dec. 20 when a woman was struck by a train at that station and lost her lower extremities.
The woman lost her lower right leg when she was hit by a train but survived.
The Alameda County coroner’s bureau was called this morning but did not respond once investigators concluded no foul play was suspected in connection with the discovery of the foot, Allison said.
Berkeley BART is investigation the incident.
