PETALUMA (BCN) — A man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of DUI after police said he was involved in a crash in Petaluma that injured a passenger in another vehicle.
Police said Carlos Sebastian Arana-Reyes, 40, of Petaluma, failed to stop at a red light and rear-ended another vehicle, causing that vehicle to crash into another vehicle.
Around 8:25 p.m. witnesses saw Arana-Reyes stopped at a traffic light in the area of East Washington and Paryan streets and fail to drive away when the light turned green, police said.
Witnesses observed it appeared Arana-Reyes was passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle, and a bystander had to approach his vehicle to get his attention, police said.
Arana-Reyes woke up and continued west on East Washington Street, but failed to stop his vehicle at a red light at the intersection of East Washington and Petaluma streets and crashed into another vehicle, causing a three-vehicle crash, police said.
A 13-year-old passenger was in the vehicle Arana-Reyes rear-ender and had to be transported to the hospital for minor injuries suffered in the crash, police said.
Arana-Reyes remained at the scene following the crash, and officers could smell alcohol on his breath, police said.
He was arrested after a drunk driving investigation.
